Accommodation overview: Loughrigg Holme sits underneath the much loved fell of the same name and was once the home of Wordsworths daughter, Dora and her husband Edward Quillinan, Rich in literary history connections, visitors to Loughrigg Holme have included Charlotte Bronte, the poet Matthew Arnold and Harriet Martineau. This chocolate box property,originally a farmhouse, built in 17th century and extended in the early 19th century is a beautiful example of a traditional Lakeland residence, her 2 1/2 acres of gardens and fellside including croquet lawn blending effortlessly into the slopes of Loughrigg and displaying a wealth of ancient shrubs and flora, cleverly married with more formal patio, lawn areas and natural water fall. Accommodation overview: Haycote Cottage is a delightful stone built property in the heart of working farmland, a short distance from Coniston Water, Coniston village and Grizedale Forest. Lowick is a traditional village and still hosts the annual Lowick show, an excellent display of local craft and produce, the surrounding area farmed by local families throughout the ages. There are an abundance of gentle walks from the door at Haycote Cottage, and numerous villages can be reached within minutes drive, Coniston and Broughton just two. The nearby pub serves local ales and great food. The styling throughout Haycote Cottage is superb, of excellent quality and reminiscent of a boutique hotel - not quite what you would expect from a traditional Lakeland cottage but the combination works brilliantly. Perfect for those wishing to be a little off the beaten track, this is a romantic hideaway for two with that all important traditional pub within easy walking distance.
