Accommodation overview: Borwick Lodge, a former country house hotel built in the 17th century is a very special property and one that we consider will be the most perfect venue for your Lakeland holiday, be it for a family gathering, celebration or simply an annual break. The detached lodge house enjoys a three acre site of beautiful gardens, awash with well established azaleas and rhododendrons, from which to take in the panoramic views of the surrounding Hawkshead Valley whilst the house itself retains some delightful features including a delightful partly glazed verandah, the ideal shelter for pre dinner drinks. The area is ideal for exploring the traditional villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, never more than minutes away in the car, and no trip to this part of the Lakes would be complete without a stroll around The Jewel of the Lakes, Tarn Howes, an inspiring beauty spot and one attributed to bringing out the romantic side of many a man or woman! In terms of nearby facilities, The famous Drunken Duck Inn is a mere 1.5 miles away, a leisurely stroll although Hawkshead, Coniston and Ambleside all have the usual grocers, butchers, bakers as well as galleries, tea shops, pubs and restaurants.

Townhead is a tiny hamlet 8 miles east of the historic border city of Carlisle and close to Hadrians wall. In and around the area are excellent opportunities for fishing, walking, birdwatching and golf to name but a few. Accommodation overview: Situated in old Ambleside, this early 18thC cottage apartment is just a 100 yard stroll to the main area of this poplar village, with its many shops, pubs and restaurants. The apartment is all on one level above Amblers Rest, with views of the surrounding hills over the rooftops. Traditionally furnished and with exposed cruick beams the apartment offers comfort and luxury with many home comforts and up to the minute facilities, including bath sheets large enough to wrap around and luxurious goose down duvets and pillows on all beds, with nonallergenic alternatives if required. There are many easy fell walks from the cottage. Gable End is under the same ownership as Amblers Rest and Low & High White Stones (100 yards away - each a romantic hideaway with one double bedroom) All offer 4* comfort and luxury.
